Google Hosts K-pop Concert

The K-pop wave continues to spread around the world. A proof to this is the upcoming private K-pop concert to be hosted by Google. The private concert will be held in their headquarters in California on May 21. Among the K-pop artists expected to perform are Super Junior, Wonder Girls, KARA, SISTAR, TVXQ, MBLAQ, BEAST and more. Each K-pop performance will be shown to the public through the YouTube channel of Google. Korean Wave This is great news to all the fans because it will give them the chance to take a glimpse on the performances of their favorite K-pop groups. This will be the first time big companies like Google to turn their attention to the K-pop phenomenon. According to a representative, the event will open doors to the K-pop artists. This will be a two-day affair since another K-pop concert will be held prior to May 21. The K-pop groups will be performing in Honda Center on the 20th of May. Korean Wave If you’re a huge K-pop fan you may have noticed how the Hallyu wave spurred to life. The K-pop phenomenon did not happen instantly. It was a movement that has brought back the life of Korea. The Hallyu wave started in the ’80s and ’90s. It was the most important period in the Korean media. During that time, when Hollywood films were introduced to the public, the Korean industry dwindled. A Korean film started the revival of the dying industry. The film sparked hope and awakening to the importance of their culture. The government took part in the promotion of the film. This attributed to the comeback of the Korean film and media industry. Many people noticed the boom and called it the Korean Wave. Korean Wave The Korean wave is the phenomenon that is created by the Korean industry. It’s the resurgence of the film, TV, music and culture industry. The Korean governtment continued their full support to the industry. This created the perfect formula in exporting their culture to other Asian countries. The K-pop wave has reached major cities in Asia like Japan, Philippines, China, Singapore, Malaysia and more. Recently, the Hallyu wave started to create a buzz in the US. Although, the Hollywood industry is not that easy to penetrate the Korean wave has finally reached it. Korean Wave The K-pop culture made an impact not only to the K-pop community but also to other industries like food, fashion and cosmetics. The emergence of almost perfect K-pop idols caused a major boom in plastic surgery. Many fans who idolize their favorite K-pop artists were eager to go under the knife. This is just the beginning of the Korean wave, and nobody knows what will happen next.
