Six Bomb says, “we were not pretty”

Six-member girl group Six Bomb recently strayed from the idol image, revealing that as individuals, they “weren’t pretty.” Compared to the other teenage girls that are debuting in the music industry, they consider themselves to rank as average in looks, the girls shared in an interview. The members, Nabi, Hye Jin, Subin, Eui Hyun, Young Ji and Jiwoo made their official stage debut on January 28th and 29th on KBS2‘s ‘Music Bank‘ and MBC‘s ‘Music Core‘. Living up to their name, the ladies really dropped some bombs on stage. Their vocals were stable and their dance was perfectly in sync. They proved that they were a skilled girl group who did not need to rely on their looks. The performance generally received positive reactions. After leaving a strong impression on viewers, Six Bomb was the #1 searched item on portal sites everywhere. There were also some negative comments, which the girls were prepared to deal with. Some netizens remarked that their appearances completely ‘bombed’ — a harsh criticism that could wound any rookie who was just starting out. However, the girls remained positive and remarked, “We know that we are not extremely beautiful, but we think that the public will find us more attractive over time. We have an image that’s hard to forget. We didn’t come out here trying to triumph everyone else with our looks. We want to shake the music industry with our talent.” “There’s this strong aura that surrounds us when we individuals come together,” they continued. ”We are not necessarily trying to push an ‘energetic’ image with our name ‘bomb’, but we want people to know that our name ‘bomb’ carries a deeper, ‘powerful’ meaning.” The girls have recorded five different songs on their new album. This is rare to do nowadays, especially for rookie singers. Their title song “Chicky Chicky Bomb” is a new-wave dance song whose rap and melody harmonize well together, and their songs “Baby Boy” and “After I Left You” are emotional, fantasy-like ballads while “Step to Me” has more of a rock sound to it, and “Only You Don’t Know” encompasses classical sounds. “We wanted to show you a lot of different sides of us, so we incorporated a lot of different genres,” they said. “We are not good at being cute, so we won’t even try. We want to come out on top with our music, so we tossed the ‘pretty’ image.”

Baby V.O.X

Baby V.O.X is an acronym for the “Baby Voices of Xpression”). They were one of the South Korea’s girl groups that is under the management and record company of DR Music. Even though they had initially much internal turmoil, the group was eventually a consistent group from the year 1999 to 2005 as they released their hit songs and albums.
But things do not go as they planned when their last album Ride West was said to be a failure. By the end of that year, all of the members of the group had left their company with some of them will be going solo and the others will be moving to other entertainment areas. The group’s 7th album and last album, Ride West was released in April, 2004 which featured songs in different languages such as in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korea. There are also some appearances of well known hip hop artist such as Tupac Shakur and Jennifer Lopez were featured on the album. Event though Tupac’s appearance in it was a freestyle rap that has been recorded in prison, the group had attempted to start promotions in USA in the year 2004. However, even the rights for the sample of Tupac’s verse are not cleared, this caused in a court case that was pursued by the late rapper’s mother, Afeni Shakur. The album was then proclaimed to be the one who had sent the group in the international awareness, even though they are suing English in the single. On the other hand, the music video for the album had featured, “Xcstasy” that was in English language and features expensive luxury vehicles and well-dressed, high preened divas that serves the emulation of the “bling bling” style of hip hop videos that is popular in the United States during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group had also performed some sexy dance moves and even wore provocative dresses in the music video, seen as a little too much for the conservative country of Korea. This was released with very much controversy. There was the first issue about their managing group; DR Music can legally use Tupac’s material in the recording with the singer’s representative saying that DR did not have any authorization. Although the group had claimed that they have the rights on it, many different companies in the USA had claimed the authorization and the problems were not solved. To worsen the problem, a member of the Korean hip hop group DJ DOC was offended by their alleged misuse of Tupac Shakur’s lyrics, said it to the media and called the group members as prostitutes. There is a second single called “Play Remix” that features Jennifer Lopez was promoted for a short time but the sales were lower than those of their previous ones. After the year 2004, the group had gone into hiatus and Shin Eun Jin and Yoon Eun Hye had left the group in the year 2005. In March, 2006 the group was officially disbanded.

of A Love to Kill that was released in the year 2006. He has great connections to many collaborations and drama soundtracks, and he can also rap and dance. On the 2nd of December, 2008, he had released a digital single called, “Love 119”. The said single had achieved number one spot on online charts and had ranked number two on the KBS Music Ban K-Chart without even any promotions. Since his earlier single has been a success, he later on released a mini album named, “Dropping the Tears” on the 31st of March, 2009. His deep, husky and beautiful voice had made the song full of emotions and it had also reached number one spot on online charts, but not as fast the “Love 119”. He had also worked with the two members of girl group Girl’s Generation namely Yuri and Tiffany. Yuri had appeared in his “Dropping the Tears” music video while Tiffany had sang a duet with him called “Girl, Meets Love”.During his album promotions, Lee Min Ho who is the lead male actor for the drama Boys Over Flowers had asked him for vocal training. And thank to his help, the actor had later on sing the song, My Everything. K.Will had surprised his fans with versatility. He had created a special stage with the faster rapper of South Korea namely Outsider, and the singer had shown his skills by rapping as fast as Outsider. He was also invited to be a part of the “Korean Music Festival 2009” in Japan alongside with T-Max and Jo Sung Mo because of his participation to the OST of the drama, Brilliant Legacy. He had made his debut in acting for the “Soul Special: Music Drama” where he had worked with actress Han Hyo Joo. The said drama was a revolution of the entertainment business since all of its episodes were only released online. K.Will’s title track, Miss, Miss and Miss is only a moderate success and had only reached the 8th spot for KBS Music Bank K-Chart. He had also collaborated with Outsider in this album, after their success on the summer. But sad to say, their song, “Hypnosis” was banned on the KBS because it has the word “mute”. This was very much unfortunate for Starship Entertainment since they had planned to promote this song after the current title track “Miss, Miss and Miss”. K.Will had debuted in the U.S.A through “the three romanticists concert alongside with Kim Bum Soo and Yoo Seung Chan on the 5th of March, 2010. with their song, “Timeless”. The trio had quickly become popular at the same time with their song, and with the music video that was played on cellular phone all over Korea, and their album had topped the charts. But unlike the other groups, they had decided to lessen their promotions through the use of music shows or even their own videos. The group has once stated that they want the people to care more about the music rather than their own faces. Their most anticipated fourth album, The Sentimental chord” released on the 6th of April, 2007, almost a year since the released of their 3rd album. Once again, they had amazed the people with their new title song, “Arirang” that contains classic instruments of Korea playing as the background music of the song. With the release of their 4th album with their title song, they had got the number one spot in the Bugs Chart as well as the Korea monthly chart. They had also released two special albums namely, “SG Wanna Be+” and “Story In New York.” Both of the special albums had managed to be successful as well, following SG Wannabe’s popularity and success. Nearly the end of the year, SG Wannabe was then awarded their second daesang in the Golden Disk Awards, ranking as the top artist of the year. Marking the almost 200,000 copies sold their album; The Sentimental Chord was said to be the best-selling album of 2007 in Korea. In addition to that, there are some several changes that had also occurred within the group, especially when their member Chae Dong Ha had decided to leave the group in order to pursue his own career. As of the 23rd of April, 2008, SG Wannabe’s 5th album had reached 85,000 pre-orders and they are still counting. K-POP X-5 on ONSEN~

Idol group X-5 is working hard to develop their own unique appeals.
The boys garnered a lot of attention for their dashing good looks and their tall height even before their debut, but they feel that simply isn’t enough. Different from their innocent and pure image, the boys are extremely intense and determined. The members are usually extremely playful and love to joke around, but they were quite genuine and focused for their interview with OSEN. “Every week, there is a new group that debuts on a music program. There are also a lot of boy groups that have been emerging. We are constantly on our toes (Gun).” This seems to be their motto, and the area they are most concerned with is their performances. Because of their tall height (average height of 6’1?), their dance moves can come across as awkward but the boys are working hard to put on flawless performances for their fans. While they were still trainees, the boys rehearsed their dance routines with sand bags in their pockets in order to perfect the moves. “We have selected a lot of moves that tall people can pull off, and we are rehearsing day and night.Rain sunbaenim is also tall, but he dances really well. There is also Aoora. We are working to become unique like Rain. We know that such drastic changes won’t happen overnight, but we promise that we will work hard to develop ourselves little by little as time goes by (Typhoon).”

X-5 on Japan for 2012!

X-5 also has plans to debut in Japanthis year. Their label mates ‘The BOSS‘ are doing extremely well inJapan, heightening expectations for X-5?s promotions.
“We still cannot speak Japanese fluently, but we are really excited for out Japanese promotions. We already have a good fan base there. I think they like us because we are tall (laughs) (Sulhoo).” Their most recent release “Dangerous” has been receiving high praises for the addictive melody and their eye-catching stage ensembles. The members agree that they all really like the song as well. “We wanted to try something that was powerful but still smooth and pleasant at the same time, and we think that this song encompasses all of that. We were really focused on the dance, and we modified it a number of times. It was hard to memorize as we changed it so many times, but in the end it was all worth it. That’s how our ‘glove dance’ came to be, and we also did something a little different for our ensembles. We wear long boots, something that guys don’t normally wear. We think it gives us the image of young princes? Haha (Gun).” Their goal this year is to win a #1 K-Chart win on a music program. They are doing everything they can to make this happen. “We are also learning how to write and compose songs. We want to greet our fans as a band one day, so we are also taking up a few instruments. We also want to try our hand at acting and modeling, but right now we are mostly focused on achieving a #1 win. This year, we really want a K-Chart win! (Haewon).”

New member of Nine Muses!

n order to have a more systematic format, the girls have recruited new member, Kyungli. Before her official debut, Kyungli who was born in 1990 was known as an ‘ulzzang (good looking)‘ dancer, and her previous experience has raised the expectations of their fans.
“I can’t believe that I’m here with Nine Muses right now, after watching them perform on TV. I don’t think I will be nervous because I have previous experience dancing, but I don’t have much experience as a singer and I think I will be a little unnatural when it comes to things like gestures and facial expressions. I will work harder to make up for the things I lack. I hope that with my own addition, we can further make a name for ourselves as Nine Muses (Kyungli).” “We have more members now, and people are more aware of who we are, so I think we will be able to become a lot more active in 2012.
